We value diversity.
Mainspring Schools values diversity of all kinds. It is reflected in our students, our staff, our volunteers, and our Board of Directors. Children from all faiths, races, cultures, and socio-economic backgrounds are welcomed and honored here.
Like the poulation of the neighborhood where we are located, our students come from families that range from successful young professionals to working families of more modest income.
We celebrate everyone.
Holidays are celebrated in non-traditional ways in order to honor all traditions. Valentine’s Day at Mainspring Schools is celebrated as Friendship Day. Easter becomes a Celebration of Springtime. Halloween is Dress-up Day.
We teach respect for all.
Our children are growing up in a world that gets smaller every day. It is important for them to build an understanding and appreciation of others and their ways. Mainspring Schools provides the perfect setting for that.
Quality
Low ratios. Small class size. Educated staff. Enriched Play.Mainspring Schools has very low child-to-adult ratios in order to provide better individualized attention to children. Well-trained teachers with lots of continuing education are better able to plan for individual children’s learning needs. We value learning through carefully structured play and make sure that children are able to learn through exploration. An age-appropriate, research-based curriculum is planned for each child that addresses issues identified in the child’s assessment.
NAEYC Accredited. The National Association for the Education of Young Children, NAEYC, defines the gold standard for early education and care. Centers who wish to be accredited by NAEYC undergo intense review. Only the best are awarded NAEYC accreditation.
Mainspring Schools was among the first centers to be NAEYC certified. We continue to maintain our certification because it is important to have a standard of quality as our common vision and practice.

Mainspring Schools is also a 4-Star Texas Rising Star provider (maximum number of stars is 4) through the Texas WorkSource Board’s Child Care Services department.
Family centered. Mainspring Schools supports the whole family by implementing a cohesive family service program. Social workers on staff reach out to families to provide counseling and play therapy. Parent Education on topics like nutrition, discipline, and helping children succeed in school is facilitated with encouragement, connection and role modeling.
Making referrals and connections with resources are also some of the key components of our family services program. We link parents to other agencies who provide specialized services such as behavioral assessments.
Health focused. Mainspring Schools focuses on children’s health. We provide healthful, hot breakfasts and lunches everyday, which are often a child’s only healthful meal for the day. We also provide heath Screenings, which are vital for students in order to catch vision and hearing problems early and to get vaccinations required for public school.
Proper nutrition, heath care, and stimulation during the early years of a child’s life improve learning and social-emotional development. An independent evaluation proved that Mainspring Schools’ high-quality services have considerable long-lasting effects on children’s lives.
