“Dozen of small decisions turned into a big impact.”
Nearly 10 years ago, my wife Mandy applied to be the Business Manager for a small child care center that caught her eye because of their mission and history. Well, she wasn’t my wife just yet, and I myself had just started my own career as an educator, so really there was no way to know how big that decision would turn out to be. A decision that would impact not just the families that she would serve at that time but also the family that the two of us would start just a couple of years later when we welcomed our daughter, Matilda, to the world.
At first, I would just hear the stories of the little adventures that would happen each day, but soon enough I was coming to campus and joining my wife in activities and volunteering opportunities. Then, I would get to see all the goings on at Matilda’s pick-up and drop-off times. That is when I truly began to appreciate everything that the teachers do with each and every student. Not only could we see how much our daughter was growing, but over time we could also see the same for the other families of her classmates. It really did feel like our families were growing together.
It wasn’t long before I applied to join the staff in an administrative role. It made perfect sense to be involved in this new family even more closely than before. Mandy just knew she wanted to be a part of the organization; we just knew we wanted Matilda to benefit from the support and dedication of the staff; and I just knew that I wanted to continue serving the families from this community, providing the same service that we had received to other families looking for the same.
Of course, I’m talking about Mainspring. Every single day our staff truly does embody the mission to provide the very best care to the most deserving families in any number of ways. It could be caring for a child needing comfort, supporting a parent through trying times, or even reaching out to another staff member and showing that we are here for each other as well. Seeing all of that makes me very proud to be able to contribute my part to this family made of families.
As you know we are in the middle of our End of Year Giving Campaign where we are asking folks to donate to the little school doing big things. Your donation would help us in being able to continue the work we do here for our families. After all, you never know when something little will turn out to be a big part of your life.
